ABOUT ME

Kate Brower

I grew up taking riding lessons, fascinated by the subtleties of communication between horses and with their humans. However, I didn't grow up in a horsey family, and training horses seemed like something other people did, people who were born into different lives than mine.

I was eight years into a grueling career in the film industry when I decided to take all that effort and put it toward work that meant something to me. I began learning from a local horsewoman and applying my knowledge at a therapeutic riding center where I volunteer. In Spring of 2022 I got the opportunity to travel to Texas and learn liberty horsemanship from Patrick Sullivan of Modern-Day Horsemanship. I took with me the first horse in my life who truly intimidated me, a tall red Appendix mare who had repeatedly bolted out from under me. Since her liberty restart we zip around bareback and bridleless, but she also makes a great therapy horse!

Liberty horsemanship is a complete framework that I use to start and restart horses, and to transform horses with behavioral issues.

If you have a youngster you want started without fear or force, or a problem horse you're tempted to give up on, get in touch and let me show you what liberty can do!
