THE HELP CENTER

Your Questions, Answered

Although each horse's training needs are different, there are some questions that often come up again and again. Read on and find out if there’s already an answer for yours. If there is anything you’re still wondering about or unsure of, please don’t hesitate to call or send me a message and I’ll get back to you shortly.

WHICH TYPES OF ANIMALS DOES EQUITY HORSEMANSHIP TRAIN?

I have experience with all varieties of domesticated equines! Horses, donkeys, and mules have different learning styles and I will happily work with any of them. Whether you want your donkey to do liberty, your pony to pull a cart, or your mule to ride trails, I can help!

WHAT IS A LIBERTY FOUNDATION?

Liberty foundation training departs from traditional horsemanship by doing away with force and fear based methods, ropes to restrain or 'lay down' the horse, and the idea that the first ride will be a rodeo. Instead, the horse is given freedom to experiment and make decisions without fear of punishment. I use the horse's native 'language' of energy, intention, spatial relationships, and approach and retreat to develop a partnership in which the horse sees the human as a source of safety and comfort. A horse trained through fear is only reliable until it finds something scarier than you; a horse with trust and connection will look to you for guidance.

WHERE ARE YOU?

I have partnered with St John Riding Stables in Laplace, Louisiana as my home barn. I take clients there for training board, single sessions, and lessons!

CAN YOU COME TO MY LOCATION?

Yes! Lessons and single sessions are available for $50 plus mileage ($0.66 per mile to and from Laplace, LA). Longer training terms may be available; contact me with your location and needs, and we'll talk!

HOW MUCH IS TRAINING BOARD?

We offer training board at St John Riding stables for a total cost of $800 per month if you provide feed. This includes 20 training sessions, two feedings per day, free choice hay, a stall if desired, and up to 24-hour turnout.

CAN I VISIT MY HORSE AND WATCH THEIR TRAINING?

Absolutely! In fact, I encourage clients to take an active role in training to ensure a smooth transition back home. If you'd like to visit, please let me know at least 3 hours in advance so I can plan my day accordingly.
